Hoh Rainforest, Olympic National Park

We were back in Olympic for fourth time this weekend to hike the Hoh Rainforest.

Our goal was to climb Mt. Olympus which we had already tried to summit in spring 2005. This time we were hoping to get to the top. Due to zero visibility we turned around just 2 km before the summit. Bummer!!! I had never experienced a white out before, it was scary. Olympic doesn't let anybody off easy - it reminded me again how rough and rugged this place is. It does make absolutely stunning photography though.

What is cool about the Olympics is that you can get very close to the wild life. This little deer was hanging out all by himself and was rather curious than scared to see us. I was standing only 3 m from him while he was munching on grass.
